After playing the past three seasons in China, Bobby Brown is moving on to Turkey. The 31-year-old point guard's signing was announced on Twitter by his new team, Besiktas, signing for the rest of the 2015-2016 season.
Plenty of players have a tendency to put up big numbers on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, but every now and then Ballers Abroad finds a player who puts up substantially better numbers, which happened last weekend with Davante Gardner. He put up 49 points, including 12-of-13 from the free throw line, and 18 rebounds in a 89-78 victory over the Hiroshima Dragonflies Feb. 28. Gardner had been averaging around 27 ppg before this game, so his breakout performance earns him Baller of the Week status.
Diamon Simpson is headed to Spain. Several outlets are reporting that the 6'7" forward has signed with Estudiantes, a team in Spain's first division that he played for last season. The signing comes shortly after Simpson parted ways Ironi Nes Ziona of Israel's Winner League. Simpson's last game with Nes Ziona was Feb. 2, and left the club Feb. 28. The former St. Mary's star was averaging 15.7 points per game and was the top rebounder in Israel at the time of his leaving, grabbing 10.6 boards a game.
Estudiantes could certainly use his help as they sit near the bottom of Spain's ACB league with a 4-17 record. Simpson has gone back and forth between Spain and Israel the last few seasons, playing for Nes Ziona in 2013-2014, Estudiantes last season when he averaged 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He began the season with Nes Ziona once again before going to Estudiantes. Simpson has played in six countries in his career, including the United States.
