Kymis BC in Greece have announced their signing of Emanuel Ubilla for this season. Ubilla joins the Greek side from Latvia, where he spent last season with BK Ventspils in the Latvian Basketball League. The Fairleigh Dickinson product averaged 10.8 and 3.4 rebounds per game across all competitions, including an 11.0 points per game clip in the Basketball Champions League, helping lead Ventspils to the Latvian Basketball League championship.
Ubilla will join a Kymis team that finished the Greek A1 regular season with a 14-12 record, advancing to the quarterfinals of the A1 playoffs. This will be the first time Ubilla will play in Greece in his career, having already made stops in seven different countries.
Tay Waller is the newest player at Mornar Bar in Montenegro after signing with the team earlier today. Waller arrives to the team from Italy, where he spent last season with Openjobmetis Varese in Lega Basket Serie A. He averaged 11.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in only 11 games wh the team.
According to Sportando and several outlets, Davon Jefferson is close to signing with Red October Cantu in Italy's Lega Basket SerieA. The forward spent last season split between two teams in Turkey, starting the season with Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul and ending it with Yesilgiresun Belediye. He also played in Puerto Rico over the summer, leading his team to a championship victory. Across all competitions last season, the forward averaged 17.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
This will be the first time in Italy for Jefferson throughout his career, who has mostly played in Russia and Turkey during his career. He joins a Cantu team that finished 16-14, advancing to the quarterfinals of the SerieA playoffs. He will also provide the team with some much-needed depth as they compete in the Basketball Champions League this upcoming season.
Point guard Brandon Brown is the newest player of Panionios BC after signing with the Greek side earlier today. Brown comes to Panionios from Switzerland where he played for BC Boncourt in the Swiss Basketball League, the top league in the country.
The Loyola Marymount product scorched the competition in his rookie season, averaging 27.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in 30 games played for BC Boncourt as his team made it to the quarterfinals of the SBL playoffs. He joins a Panionios team that looks to rebound after a dismal 7-19 season last year in the Greek A1 Basket league, failing to make the playoffs in a competitive league.
Trevor Mbakwe will play in Germany for the first time since the 2014-2015 season after signing with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in the Basketball Bundesliga. Mbakwe last played in Germany with Brose Bamberg, a season that saw the team win the BBL championship. The Minnesota grad spent last season in Italy with Fiat Torino, averaging 10.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as Torino finished with a 13-17 record and missed out on a playoff spot in Lega Basket Serie A.
Ludwigsburg will hope to improve on a very successful last season in which they finished in third place in the Basketball Bundesliga and advanced to the semifinals of the BBL playoffs, which means that this season they will also play in the regional Basketball Champions League. Mbakwe has also played in Italy, Israel and Russia, and is joining five other Americans on the Ludwigsburg roster.
Maccabi Rishon LeZion has added center David Weaver to their roster a few short weeks before the season in Israel begins. Weaver comes to Rishon LeZion from Turkey, where he spent last season with TED Ankara Kolejliler in Turkey's second division.
The Wake Forest grad averaged 15.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as Ankara Kolejliler finished with a dismal 9-25 record. Rishon LeZion will hope to improve on their poor record from last season, finishing in last place in the Israeli Winner League with a record of 11-22. This will be the first time the 30-year-old big man will be playing in Israel.
AS Monaco Basket have announced their signing of guard Lazeric Jones, adding him to the roster shortly before the beginning of the LNB Pro A season to replace the departing D.J. Cooper. Jones arrives in France from Turkey, where he spent last two seasons hooping with Sakarya BB, including the last season in the Turkish Basketball Super League. In the team's first time in Turkey's top division Jones impressed, averaging 12.0 points and 3.7 assists per game as Sakarya nabbed the final playoff spot and advanced to the quarterfinal of the BSL playoffs.
He will be looking to help Monaco win the big one last season, as the team came up short in both the Basketball Champions League final and the Pro A final. In addition to their domestic league, Monaco will also be competing in the EuroCup, which is known as the second tier of European basketball competitions. |
