Anthony Lee is headed to Lithuania. The forward signed with BC Prienai of the Lithuanian Basketball League early November 30, joining the team after starting the season in Turkey's second divison with Yeni Mamak. In four games played for Mamak, Lee averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while only averaged 11.3 minutes per game.
Montakit Fuenlabrada in Spain announced their signing of guard Jack Gibbs to a short-term, two-month long contract. Gibbs joins the team after spending last season in Belgium with Proximus Spirou, where he averaged 13.2 points and 1.9 assists per game as he helped Proximus Spirou to a 25-11 record and a berth in the semifinals of the EuroMillions League playoffs. He joins a Fuenlabrada team that is sitting in the middle of the Liga Endesa standings with a 4-6 record. This will be Gibbs' second season of professional basketball after an illustrious career at Davidson College, where he was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference First Team in back-to-back years (2016 & 2017).
We go to Portugal this week, where Ty Toney scored in bunches for Esgueira in Portugal's LPB. Toney dropped 41 points and 11 dimes in his team's 93-92 loss to Lusitania and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line and hit four three-pointers. The Eastern Michigan product is putting up career-high averages in his second pro season but still managed to nearly double his scoring and assists averages in this nail-biter of a game. His consistent play, and standout performance in this game, make him an easy nod for Baller of the Week.
Justin Sears is the newest player at EWE Baskets Oldenburg in Germany after signing with the club November 28. Sears has not yet played this season, but spent last year in Germany as well with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. The Yale graduate averaged 9.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game across all competitions for Ludwigsburg, which included playing in the Basketball Champions League.
MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany announced their signing of big man Clint Chapman to the roster. There won't be a far move for Chapman, seeing as how he started this season for another team in the Basketball Bundesliga, Alba Berlin. In 16 games played for Alba, including eight games in the Eurocup, the former University of Texas standout averaged 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, very efficient numbers for his 16.6 minutes per game average.
Germany is a brand-new experience for Chapman, having spent the majority of his career playing for various teams in Japan, most recently the Toyama Grouses during the 2017-2018 season. He will be moving down the table to join his new team, however; he helped Alba Berlin to a 7-1 record to start the BBL season, but joins a Ludwigsburg team that is currently sitting in ninth place at 4-4.
Xavier Munford and Bobby Brown are the latest players to make the move to China after signing with the Fujian Sturgeons and the Shanxi Brave Dragons, respectively, in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). While Munford has yet to suit up for a team this season, Brown started this year playing in Montenegro with Mornar Bar of the Adriatic League.
Baller of the Week takes us to Italy, where Isaiah Swann had a monster game in Italy's Lega Basket Serie A2, the country's second division. Swann scored 43 points, including 8 three pointers, to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists in his team's game against Unieuro Forl. His effort kept Bondi Ferrara in the game, but his team couldn't pull out the win, losing by one point. However, his offensive effort and ability to keep his team in the game are more than enough to earn him Baller of the Week for this Thanksgiving week.
