Jackie Carmichael is headed to Russia. The power forward signed with Avtodor Saratov in the VTB United League, and will be plying in Russia for the first time in his career. Carmichael comes to Avtodor from Turkey, where he spent last season with Muratbey Usak Sportif in the Turkish Basketball Super League. He averaged 13.4 points. 7.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 23 games for Usak Sportif, though unfortunately the team was relegated to the second-division Turkish Basketball League after going 6-24 and finishing the regular season in last place.
The Illinois State product will look to help Avtodor Saratov improve on last season's finish, as the team went 14-10 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the VTB playoffs. Russia will be the fifth country that Carmichael has played as he starts sixth pro season, having made stops in Spain, the U.S., Israel and Turkey. |
