Kasey Shepherd will play in Russia for the first time in his career after signing with Nizhny Novgorod in the VTB United League, per Sportando and other outlets. Shepherd will join the team for next season after the current season in Russia was canceled March 27 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Louisiana-Lafayette product comes to Nizhny from Ukraine, where he spent this past season with Kyiv Basket.
Shepherd averaged 13.5 points, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game across all competitions, which included competing in the FIBA Europe Cup, as he helped lead Kyiv to a runner-up position in the Ukranian Basketball Superleague with a 17-6 record. He joins a Novgorod team that was only a game out of a playoff spot when the season was canceled, going 7-11 during the shortened season. Shepherd has also played hoops in Hungary and Montenegro. |
