- Canaan was selected 34th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2013 NBA Draft, and played for six NBA teams and three NBA G League teams between 2013-2020, most recently with the Stockton Kings (NBA G League) from 2019-2020.
- He was a 2x OVC Player of the Year (2012, 2013) who was a Second Team All-American in 2012, and had his No. 3 jersey retired by Murray State in 2018.
