Dalton Pepper started the season in Bulgaria, but is now headed to Cyprus. The small forward signed with Keravnos Strovolou through the rest of the season, coming to the Cypriot team from PBC Lukoil Academic in Bulgaria. Pepper averaged 10.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 20 games for the Bulgarian side, playing in three different competitions in the process.
He spent the 2016-2017 season in Italy with NPC Rieti where he put up 16.3 points per game while grabbing 5.5 rebounds per contest. He has averaged more than 10 points per game in every season of his career, and will look to add to Keravnos' offense not only in the domestic league but also in the FIBA Europe Cup, where Keravnos is 0-1 in group play. The team is 7-2 and in second place in Cyprus' Division A. Pepper graduated from Temple in 2014. This is his fourth season as a pro.
Our featured unsigned player this month is Amir Carraway out of Chico State. Carraway is in his fourth season of professional basketball, playing the first three seasons of his career in Germany before playing for Cimarrones de Choco in Colombia in 2017, where he was named All-Liga Sudamerican Honorable Mention after averaging 15.5 points per game. He is passport ready and has a Chinese visa. You can get in touch with him via Twitter @ACspade23 or check out his YouTube channel.
While Baller of the Week usually involves domestic leagues, this BOTW's performance was so impressive that we HAD to give a nod. John Roberson put on a show in ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne's wild 129-128 win over Spanish side Gran Canaria, shooting a Eurocup-record 11-of-16 from three point range to lead his team to victory along with dishing out eight dimes.
His overall performance, coupled with a big win in European play, made him an easy selection for our first Baller of the Week of 2018.
Tony Easley has parted ways with Walter Tigers Tubingen in Germany. The big man appeared in 13 games this season for Tubingen, starting six, and averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. There is no word yet on who will replace him, but we will keep you updated as this story develops.
The German side currently sits at the bottom of the Basketball Bundesliga with a 1-15 record, and is in serious danger of being relegated to the second-division Pro A league.
Mike Caffey will be playing for his third country in as many years, signing with the Helsinki Seagulls in Finland per Sportando and other sources. Caffey has yet to play this season, but spent last season in Greece with Trikala Aries, where he averaged 8.4 points and 3.1 assists per game for Trikala.
Caffey spent his rookie season in Hungary after graduating from Long Beach State in 2015. Helsinki currently sits in third place in the Korisliiga standings with a 12-7 record. |
