After spending last season in Italy, Dominique Archie is taking his talents to France. Archie signed with Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket June 19, joining the team ahead of the 2019-2020 season, after averaging 11.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for Openjobmetis Varese in Lega Basket Serie A as his team nearrowly miss out on a playoff stop.
He joins a Chalons-Reims that missed out on the LNB Pro A playoffs this year, finishing in thirteenth place in the standings with a 13-21 record. A two-time winner of the EuroMillions (Belgium) championship, the tenth-year pro has also played in Romania and Israel in addition to other stops in Belgium and Italy.
Germani Basket Brescia have signed Tyler Cain for next season, several outlets have announced. Cain joins the Italian team having spent the past two seasons in Italy with fellow Lega Basket Serie A team Openjobmetis Varese. During the 2018-2019 season, Cain averaged 9.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game across all competitions, including competing in the FIBA Europe Cup, as his team narrowly missed out on a playoff berth after going 16-14 in the regular season. The tenth-year pro will join a Brescia side that also missed out on the Italian league playoffs last year, finishing only two games back at 14-16. The South Dakota product also played in Italy during the 2013-2014 season, though it was in the second division Serie A2.
On the heels of winning the Greek A1 League championship, Panthinaikos received more good news at the signing of Marcus Denmon for next season. Denmon has had success in Greece before, winning the 2018 Greek A1 Championship with Panathinaikos while being named an Eurobasket.com All-Greek Co-Newcomer of the Year. Denmon returns to the Greek side after spending last season in China with Zhejiang Chouzhou.
The Missouri product averaged a career-high 33.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game for Zhejiang as the team went 23-23 and snuck into the CBA playoffs. While Panathinaikos had another superlative year domestically, they lost in the quarterfinals of the Euroleague Playoffs, losing to Real Madrid in a three-game sweep.
Conner Frankamp is the newest player at Rethymno Cretan Kings after signing with the Greek team June 12. Frankamp joins the side from BC Beroe in Bulgaria where he played during his rookie season.
Jamar Wilson is the newest player at JL Bourg Basket after signing with the French team June 12. He played the 2018-2019 season for BC Lietkabelis in Lithuania, averaging 11.3 points and 3.2 assists per game across all competitions, including the Basketball Champions League. He will join a JL Bourg team that narrowly missed out on a playoff berth in the LNB Pro A, France's top division, after finishing the regular season in ninth place with a 19-15 record.
Wilson has played in France twice before: first with Rouen Metropole Basket in 2015, when he only played 8 games, and then for Nanterre 92 during the 2017-2018 season. He has also played in Belgium, Finland, Serbia and Spain during his career, and has been effective both in a starting role or coming off the bench.
Clayton Vette is the newest player for Crelan Okapi Aalstar after signing with the Belgian team June 3. Vette comes to the team from the Dutch Basketball League, where he suited up for Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden from 2017-2019. The long-time international veteran averaged 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game this past season for Leiden as the team advanced to the semifinals of the DBL playoffs, losing Dutch power Donar Groningen.
He joins an Okapi Aalstar team that will be looking to improve on last season's performance after the team finished the regaular season with a record of 14-22 and lost in the quarterfinals of the EuroMillions League playoffs. The Winona State product has prior experience playing in Belgium, as it is where he started his career when he played for Telenet Giants Antwerp during the 2013-2014 season. |
