Combo guard J'Covan Brown is headed to Israel. The University of Texas product signed with Hapoel Gilboa Galil for the 2017-2018 season. Gilboa Galil, a team in Israel's top division, narrowly missed out on the Winner League playoffs last season, finishing the regular season with a 15-18 record.
The addition of Brown will add depth and experience in the back court - especially given that Brown's last season was similar to Gilboa Galil's. He averaged 11.1 points and 4.4 assists per game in Turkey's top league, as his side also finished ninth and narrowly missed the playoffs with a 15-15 record.
Former University of Florida star Kenny Boynton is headed to a new country. Several sources have broken the news that the combo guard has signed with Yesilgiresun, a team in the Turkish Basketball Super League, Turkey's top division. This is Boynton's second spell in Turkey, having spent the 2015-2016 season with Denizli Basket.
Boynton joins the side after spending last season with Nizhny Novgorod, where he averaged 14.5 points and 3.7 assists across all competitions as Nizhny went 8-16 in the VTB United League. Yesilgiresun will hope to improve on their 11-20 record from last season, finishing eleventh in the BSL.
BBC Monthey (Switzerland) signed forward Terrance Henry for the 2017-2018 season.
Henry spent last season in Belgium with Kangoeroes Basket Willebroek, where he averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 38 games for the Belgian side, which advance to the quarterfinals of the Euromillions League after finishing the regular season with an 18-18 record. Monthey will hope that Henry helps them defend their title after they defeated the Geneva Lions in the LNA Finals last season.
Rotterdam Challengers have announced their new signing Trevor Setty. Setty comes to the Netherlands from England, where he played last season for the Worcester Wolves. This is the second country for Setty in his career. He spent his first three seasons in England, playing for three different teams in three seasons in the British Basketball League: the Plymouth University Raiders (2013-2014), Surrey Scorchers (2014-2015) and the Worcester Wolves (2016-2017).
Last season, Setty averaged 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Wolves, leading them to a 20-13 record and advancing to the semifinals of the BBL playoffs. Rotterdam will hope to improve on last season's 12-16 record. |
