EWE Baskets Oldenburg will part ways with Christian Jones, according to Sportando and other sources. Jones had signed with the team through 2017, and will not be re-signed when his contract expires Dec. 31. The team announced the news via Twitter earlier today.
Jones is a rookie from UNLV that has played in seven games for EWE Baskets, including four games for the team's affiliate in Germany's Pro B League. While he's had opportunities in Basketball Bundesliga play and the Basketball Champions League, he hasn't produced in those competitions. EWE Baskets is currently in the middle of the pack in the BBL with a record of 8-6.
Point guard Dustin Ware has signed with Kolossos in Greece, several outlets are reporting. His agent, Chistos Lazarou, announced the signing on Twitter:
BOTW takes us to Switzerland and the scoring talents of BC Boncourt's Brandon Brown. The rookie point guard out of Loyola Marymount put on a dazzling display, scoring more than half of his team's points to go along with 11 boards and four assists in Boncourt's 93-86 victory over BBC Monthey.
Brown is averaging 27.3 points per game this year so his outburst is no surprise to fans of Swiss hoops, but he's been on a tear as of late, averaging more than 31 points per game in his last five. If he keeps these big games coming, Brown could see a move to a more powerful European league in his future, which was more than enough to gas him up as our Baller of the Week!
Maccabi Haifa announced that they have signed swingman Zach Graham for the rest of the season. The team announced the signing Dec. 16:
Graham has spent the past two seasons in Venezuela playing for Guaros de Lara, averaging 16.8 points and 2.6 rebounds last season for Guaros. He will be joining a Haifa squad that is currently sitting in the middle of the pack of the Israeli Winner League at 4-5, after finishing in second place last year in the Winner League playoffs.
Aquila Basket Trento has announced that they have re-signed PF/C Dustin Hogue for the rest of the 2017-2018 season. Hogue spent last season with Aquila Basket, where he averaged 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Serie A side.
Sometimes it's difficult to adjust to being on a new team, let alone in a new country, but that didn't stop Quincy Diggs from filling up the stat sheet and earning our nod for Baller of the Week.
Though he only signed with Boulazac in late November Diggs has already made his presence felt, dropping 22 points on only seven shot attempts in his team's 91-89 win over JL Bourg Basket. Boulazac is near the bottom of France's Pro A standings for now, but performances like this could certainly elevate the team going forward. Russian side Avtodor Saratov has announced that it has signed forward Shaquielle McKissic through the end of the season. McKissic started the season with Herbalife Gran Canaria in Spain’s top division, where he averaged 6.1 points per game in 15 games for Gran Canaria. |
