Chorale Roanne Basket in France have announced its signing of Nijal Pearson. The rookie will start his professional career in the LNB Pro A after finishing a memorable career at Texas State University that was capped off by being named conference player of the year. The 6'5 guard out of Beaumont, Texas, averaged 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game and was named Sun Belt Player of the year. His play helped lead the Bobcats to a 21-11 record (13-7 in Sun Belt Play), which included a third-place finish in the league standings and advancing to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament before the tournament was canceled March 14.
Pearson joins a Chorale Roanne team that was struggling in France's top division before the season was paused, sitting near the bottom of the standings with an 8-17 record despite having two of the top four scorers in the league in Ian Miller and Marcquise Reed. The league will make a decision on whether to pursue an end to the 2019-2020 season by the end of May. |
