After playing last season in Greece, William Buford has signed in Italy for the upcoming season after inking with Virtus Roma in Lega Basket Serie A. Though Buford has played in many places during his eight years as a pro, this will be his first time playing in Italy.
After not playing for the first half of the 2018-2019 season, Buford came onto the scene in January for Lavrio Megabolt in Greece's A1 Basket League. In 15 games, the Ohio State grad averaged a steady 10.0 point, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for Lavrio while shooting 43 percent from three-point range.
He joins a Virtus Roma team that will be looking to do some damage in their return to Italy's top division after being promoted from the Serie A2 league during the 2018-2019 season. Roma have signed a number of Americans ahead of this season including Jerome Dyson, Liam Farley, Davon Jefferson and Mike Moore in addition to Buford, and will look to maintain their position in Serie A. |
