 Gates playing in Israel. (photo courtesy of wikipedia.org) Eurobasket and others are reporting that PF Yancy Gates could be on the move from Israel to China. The Cincinnati grad played for Hapoel Tel Aviv last season, putting up nearly 17 points and 6 boards a game in Israel's top division. The team that Gates is rumored to be going to is Shanxi Zhongyu, a team that finished in the top six in the Chinese Basketball Association last season. Shanxi could be getting rid of former Spurs center Jeff Ayres in order to make room for Gates, although that is only speculation as of now. Hapoel Jerusalem had been Gates' destination earlier in the summer, but China is definitely on the table.
